Vox Pop – 2012 End of the world

Back on June 4, 2012, I had a school project which was to create a Vox pop, This was that Vox Pop.

The Mayan prediction is that on the 21st, December, 2012, it is going to be the end of the world, this prediction has got people scared an got them in thinking that they shouldn’t wait so they don’t go through the pain for when it may or may not happen.

There are two teenagers who were considering killing themselves, because they didn’t want to be around when the world ends, and two women in the last two weeks said they were contemplating about killing their children and themselves so they wouldn’t have to suffer through the end of the world.

The stupid thing about this myth is, that it is the sixth End of the world ‘lie’ made in the 21st century, and yet there are an odd few people that go off and believe these predictions, so I’m going to The city of Melbourne to find out the public’s thoughts on the whole ‘End of the world’ myth.

The Mayan calendar ends on December 21st 2012.

But why are so many people afraid of this date? What is the big deal?

This Vox Pop was made as part of the Creative Industries course at Harvester Technical College in Sunshine, Victoria, Australia.
